Here’s the Best Recipe for Beet Chips on the Planet

Nothing can beat beets when it comes to optimizing your health. Loaded with vitamins, minerals and super powerful antioxidants, it’s no wonder why it is regarded as a superfood.

While the nutritional profile of beets is so easy to love, not too many people are fond of their taste which brings to mind dirt. If you are one of those who cannot stand the taste of beets, there is a way for you to benefit from all of the health perks that they offer, and that’s by turning them into crunchy, tasty and nutritious chips!

But before we learn how to do that, let us momentarily put the spotlight on the fact that beets are good for you.

Here are some of the reasons why beets should be incorporated in your diet on a regular basis:

They help lower your blood pressure.

That’s because beets have compounds that are converted by your body into nitric oxide, a gas that dilates the blood vessels and causes the blood pressure to drop.

They boost your staying power.

With the blood vessels dilated because of nitric oxide, blood circulation is improved. Your muscles become supplied with all the oxygen and nutrients they need to function optimally.

They remove poisonous substances.

Beets contain betaine, which is an amino acid that has detoxifying properties. The regular consumption of beets also supports the liver.

They lower your risk of deadly cancer.

There are tons of antioxidants present in beets that zap free radicals and control inflammation. As a result, your chance of having cancer is considerably lowered.

They prevent constipation.

Due to the fact that beets are rich in fiber, consuming them regularly can help you become regular. Fiber-rich beets also help make it easier for you to dodge piles and colon cancer.

They help you slim down.

Beets help save you from overeating and encountering hunger pangs as they make your tummy feel really full. What’s more, beets contain the negligible amount of fat.

As you can see, beets are undeniably good for you — provided that you don’t mind its dirt-like taste!

Instead of covering up the taste of beets with all sorts of unhealthy dressings, why not simply consume them in the form of chips? Eating beet chips is just like snacking on greasy and salty chips that everybody seems to love, except for the fact that they are super nutritious!

There is really no need for you to scour your entire city just to get your hands on some beet chips because you can actually make them from scratch right in your own kitchen! Below you will find perhaps the simplest recipe on how to make the best beet chips on the face of the planet.

Ingredients:

2 large beets

2 tablespoons of olive oil (extra virgin)

4 sprigs of thyme (fresh)

4 sprigs of rosemary (fresh)

Black pepper (ground)

Sea salt (fine)

Directions:

-Get your oven preheated to 350°F.

-Thoroughly scrub beets under running water. Afterwards, carefully peel and slice thinly. Do you have a mandolin in your kitchen? Then use it by all means — it will let you end up with beet chips having consistent thinness.

-Grab a medium-sized mixing bowl and put 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil in it.

-Place slices of beets in the same mixing bowl and toss to have each and every piece covered with olive oil.

-Neatly place uncooked beet chips in a rimmed baking sheet. Not enough space left? Then get your hands on another rimmed baking sheet.

-Chop up sprigs of thyme and rosemary. Sprinkle them on the uncooked beet chips. Sprinkle some ground black pepper and fine sea salt, too.

-Bake for about 15 minutes or until they’re slightly brown.

-Once cooked, remove your homemade beet chips from the oven and allow them to cool to room temperature.

-Serve or stash in a Ziploc to keep your beet chips fresh and crisp.
