Tea That Fights The Oral Cavity

Green tea could turn out to be a worthy ally in the fight against cancer. A study by researchers at Pennsylvania State University and published on Molecular Nutrition and Food Research found that the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a substance contained in green tea, is capable of eliminating carcinogenic cells and enhancing healthy cells. Read on Sun 24 Hours:

“Green tea would be able to fight cancer of the oral cavity, eliminating carcinogenic cells and enhancing healthy ones. To assert it, in a study published on Molecular Nutrition and Food Research, researchers at Pennsylvania State University (USA), who found a beverage substance, the epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), would be able to “turn off” a protein with antioxidant functions, SIRT3, only in diseased cells.
The research was conducted on a sample of healthy cells and cells with oral cancer, inserted into a Petri capsule (a glass or plastic dish that is used to grow cell cultures) and exposed to all ‘EGCG and monitored. At the end of the experiment, it was found that the tea substance had triggered a process of damaging the mitochondria of the carcinogenic cells, favoring its disintegration, while not damaging the healthy cells. The latter, on the contrary, were stronger because the compound had strengthened the mitochondrial membrane, essential for the well-being of the cell. ”

But the benefits of green tea do not end there. This drink, as explained on Greenme.it, is able to protect us from the risk of stroke:

“Drinking green tea can help reduce the risk of stroke. The merit is compounds like catechins, a special category of powerful antioxidant flavonoids that help regulate blood pressure and improve circulation. According to experts, in order to protect themselves from the risk of stroke, just drink a cup of green tea a day ”

It is an effective ally in preventing diabetes:

“Green tea consumption could be useful in preventing diabetes. EGCG, a substance contained in green tea, helps balance blood sugar levels. In this way, the body has more energy available to counteract the sense of fatigue. EGCG improves the use of insulin by our body, avoiding irritability and overcoming the desire to compensate for the feeling of fatigue by introducing unhealthy foods. ”

And it helps keep cholesterol under control:

“Drinking green tea helps regulate cholesterol levels in the bloodstream. The beneficial substances contained in this drink prevent the build up of cholesterol in the arteries and the onset of cardiovascular disease. According to a research published among the pages of the Journal of Biological Chemistry, the merit would once again be the EGCG. ”
